Just showed the S10 to a guy. He called me at work so I took an early lunch break and raced home to show it to him.
Big fat waste of time. He did nothing but criticize it and point out every flaw. And then offered me $1,000.00. I told him I had a car I’m buying and I need money for it. He said “Yeah but that’s probably a better car than this. This thing is rough.” I said “It books for $2,400.” He then says “That book don’t mean shit.” I looked the other way and said “To me it does.”
He test drove it and took off so quickly that he squealed the tire. He then goes “What motor is this?” I said “It’s a 4.3.” He floors it and then goes “Hmm. Seems kind of weak for a 4.3.”
He pops the hood and asks if the ABS works. I told him no and that the light is on despite me replacing the module. His response: “I know. That’s why I asked you.” He notes it used to have a toolbox and I agree. He then asks “What’d you do with the toolbox?” IT DIDN’T HAVE A DAMN TOOLBOX WHEN I GOT IT NOR WAS IT ADVERTISED WITH ONE!
Then, we get back and he goes “I’ve got a thousand dollars in the bank.” I just stared at the truck like “Are you kidding me?” I literally walked back to my car at that point.
Sigh. I despise trying to sell something. People want something for nothing. I realize the truck has flaws. That’s why I’m willing to take like two grand for it. It’s hard to find a running/driving 4WD truck for two grand. But people act like I should let them have it for $4.50.

Selling at a reasonable price takes time. It took me four months to sell my Yukon. Then one day s ome nice lady came and paid asking without test driving it. So weird. (Sidenote: I miss that car.) Took over six months to sell the Buggy.
Have you tried eBay classifieds/ putting it up with a BIN and OBO? That is how the Buggy eventually sold. eBay takes quite a chunk, but you can add that to asking price.
Also maybe run it by Carmax if for no other reason that for a good laugh. Plus last time I took a car in for an appraisal they let made me test drive a manual Porsche so... bonus?

“I have cash in hand!”
“So? Did ya think I take credit cards or something?”
this is why I much rather trade vehicles in than try to sell them. Too many d-bags out there who fancy themselves hard-nosed negotiators. When in reality they’re just frickin’ assholes.

Closest Carmax is two hours away. Lol. But good idea, otherwise.

Hmm fair enough. Could probably find what they’re offering for similar vehicles via the google before you make the trek. Or not.

I n my take no craps mood I’ve been in lately when he said “I’ve got a $1000 in the bank.” I would have told him something like “I hope its comfy, cause its going to stay there. ”

What do you use for book values? Edmunds says $1,225 for private party in outstanding condition. Although I don’t think they factor in the market for trucks. The value on my Ranger was $5500, but I paid $7500.

Probably should have ended it right there. He thought he could lowball you with cash, and you want more. Book value aside, a thing is worth exactly as much as somebody is willing to pay for it. Keep at it, and you’ll likely find somebody who thinks it’s worth a much as you think it is. Or at least a lot closer. Good luck.

The market for trucks around here is just stupid. This is one of the cheapest ones for sale that doesn’t need major work and isn’t eaten up with rust.

“Seems kinda weak for a 4.3"
Sir, have you driven something with a 4.3 before? They’re reliable not fast.
Also $1,000 for an S10 that's both 4WD, V6, AND not totally destroyed like 99% of all other S10s? Hahahaha
